MANILA, Philippines - Gardenia Bakeries Philippines Inc. has started with the expansion of its community bakery catering to the mass market.
Gardenia Bakeries president Simplicio Umali Jr. said the company has
opened more Big Smile Bread Station in Manila and Calabarzon area in the
first quarter of the year.
“Currently, Big Smile Bread Station has opened 12 outlets located in Pasig, Laguna, Taguig, Makati, Rizal, Batangas, Muntinlupa and Cavite areas,” he said.
Umali said the company would continue aggressively expanding Big Smile’s network to support the growing bread market in the country as well as keep up with demand of consumers.
Gardenia Bakeries is eyeing to open at least 1,000 Big Smile Bread Station stores in Luzon and 500 more outlets in Visayas over the next few years with the help of a franchising scheme.
The company in September last year announced its maiden venture into the unpackaged segment of the bread industry with its foray into artisanal and community bakeries.
